Wassenaarse Golfclub Rozenstein

Few clubs in the Netherlands carry the pedigree of Rozenstein. Founded in 1947 and set within the dunes and woodlands of the Wassenaar estate belt — one of the most exclusive stretches of real estate in the country — the club has long been associated with Dutch golf at its most refined. The course was designed by Frank Pennink, the English architect responsible for several of continental Europe's finest layouts, and his routing makes intelligent use of the natural terrain: sandy ridges, mature beech and oak, and the kind of quiet, filtered light that characterizes the coastal dune belt just inland from the North Sea.

Wassenaar itself is a small, wealthy municipality between The Hague and the sea, home to ambassadors, old money, and a surprising concentration of serious golf. Rozenstein sits comfortably at the top of that local hierarchy.

The course plays firm and fast when conditions are right, rewarding players who think ahead rather than simply swing hard. Precision off the tee matters here — the trees and subtle ground movement punish wayward shots in ways the yardage alone will never suggest.
