Odessa National Golf Club sits in New Castle County, in the quiet stretch of northern Delaware between Wilmington and the Maryland line — a corridor where the land flattens into open farmland and mature hardwood corridors typical of the Delmarva Peninsula. The course takes its name from the historic village of Odessa nearby, a colonial-era tobacco and grain port that once rivaled Wilmington in commercial importance before the railroad bypassed it in the 19th century. That sense of unhurried, considered character carries over into the golfing experience here.
Northern Delaware has a modest but serious golf culture, drawing players from Wilmington, the Philadelphia suburbs, and the upper reaches of the Eastern Shore. The region's terrain — gently rolling, with pockets of wetland and mature tree lines — tends to produce courses that reward placement and patience over raw power.
As a full 18-hole layout playing to a par of 72, Odessa National presents a complete test, and the semi-rural setting gives it a spacious, uncrowded feel that distinguishes it from the busier corridors to the north.
