Governors Towne Club is one of north Georgia's premier private clubs, a gated community course in Acworth that carries serious design credentials — the layout was crafted by Bob Cupp, the Atlanta-based architect whose fingerprints are on some of the Southeast's most respected private layouts. Cupp's work here reflects his characteristic blend of strategic variety and visual drama, with elevation changes, water features, and bunkering that reward thoughtful shot selection over raw power. The course has developed a strong regional reputation as a genuine members' retreat.
Acworth sits in Cherokee County at the northern edge of metro Atlanta, where the Piedmont begins its slow climb toward the Blue Ridge foothills. Lake Acworth and Lake Allatoona are practically next door, and the rolling, wooded terrain gives the property a sense of remove from the suburban sprawl pressing in from all sides. Mature hardwoods and pines frame nearly every hole.
