Quaker Meadows Golf Club carries genuine historical weight for a public golf course. The land it occupies in Morganton was once part of the McDowell family plantation, a site tied directly to the American Revolution — Charles McDowell, one of the commanders at the Battle of Kings Mountain in 1780, called this ground home.
