Few Swiss golf clubs carry a name quite as evocative as this one. The Emmental — that broad, rolling valley southeast of Bern known the world over for its cheese and its cinematic green hills — turns out to be quietly excellent golf country, and Golf Emmental has been making use of that terrain since the early 1990s. The course runs across a landscape of gentle ridges, wooded edges, and pastoral farmland that looks, in summer, almost impossibly tidy. Oberburg itself sits just above Burgdorf, the market town that serves as the Emmental's informal capital.
The layout rewards thoughtful course management over raw power. The terrain dictates variety naturally — elevation changes, tree-lined corridors, and the ever-present Bernese countryside framing almost every hole — meaning the round reads differently depending on conditions and the angle you choose to attack from.
This is a regional members' club with a genuinely warm atmosphere, popular with Bern-area golfers looking for an alternative to the more manicured resort circuits. Expect honest, well-kept parkland golf in one of Switzerland's most characterful rural settings.
