Hwasun-gun sits in the heart of Jeollanam Province, a county in South Jeolla known more for its UNESCO-listed dolmen fields and the therapeutic hot springs of Hwasun Eomsa than for championship golf. The surrounding landscape is quintessentially southwestern Korean — layered green hills, river valleys, and the kind of unhurried rural atmosphere that makes a round feel like a genuine escape from the pace of the city. The nearest major hub, Gwangju, is close enough for a day trip but far enough away that the countryside here retains a quiet character all its own.
파크골프 (park golf) is a distinct format — compact, accessible, and genuinely fun rather than demanding. Played with a single wooden club and a larger ball, it draws a wide range of participants, from active seniors to families, and has grown rapidly across South Korea as communities invest in inclusive outdoor recreation. Hwasun's course reflects that civic spirit.
For visitors, the draw is less about scoring well and more about enjoying a relaxed afternoon on well-maintained grounds in one of Jeollanam-do's most scenically appealing inland counties.
