Pahrump sits in a broad desert valley about 60 miles west of Las Vegas, ringed by the Spring Mountains to the east and the Nopah Range to the west. It's an area most travelers pass through on the way to Death Valley, but the town has quietly built a small community golf scene distinct from the spectacle of the Strip. Playing golf out here means contending with high-desert conditions — thin air, wide temperature swings between morning and afternoon, and the kind of searing summer heat that demands an early tee time.
Willow Creek Golf Club offers Pahrump's residents and passing visitors a full 18-hole experience without the resort fanfare of Las Vegas. The name suggests water and shade, both genuinely welcome amenities in this landscape, where any green vegetation is something the course has to work to maintain against the surrounding Mojave terrain.
For golfers making the drive from Las Vegas, Willow Creek is a change of pace — quieter, more local in character, and set against mountain scenery that the city courses rarely offer.
