영남알프스CC takes its name from the "Yeongnam Alps," the informal but widely used nickname for the cluster of peaks — Gajisan, Cheonhwangsan, Sinbulsan, and others — that rise dramatically across the border of Ulsan and Gyeongnam. These mountains, some topping 1,000 meters, earned the Alpine comparison from Korean hikers who felt their rugged scale and autumn ridgelines rivaled something far grander than a typical Korean hill. Playing golf here means playing against that backdrop, and the elevation changes and mountain views are the defining character of the course rather than anything a scorecard can convey.

Ulsan itself is one of South Korea's great industrial cities — home to Hyundai's vast shipyards and automotive plants — but the Ulju county hinterland where the Yeongnam Alps rise is a completely different world of forests, reservoirs, and hiking trails that draw visitors from across the southeast of the country.

A round here is genuinely scenic highland golf. The terrain demands course management and rewards players who can work the ball on sloped, mountain-influenced lies, making it a more athletic and visually memorable experience than a flat parkland layout.
