Coral Springs sits at the western edge of Broward County, where the suburban grid gives way to the broad water management canals and wetland preserves that define this part of South Florida. Golf in this corridor tends to be shaped as much by the landscape's hydrology as by any architect's hand — water is everywhere, and courses here are built around it rather than in spite of it. The heron in the name is no accident; this is habitat as much as it is fairway.
Heron Bay fits the profile of a well-appointed South Florida club — the kind of daily-fee or semi-private operation that serves a densely populated golf market with year-round playing conditions. Broward County supports a serious local golf culture, with residents who play frequently and know their courses well.
Winters here are reliably mild and draw visitors from colder climates, while summers are hot, humid, and punctuated by afternoon thunderstorms that can clear a course in minutes. Bermudagrass fairways, palm trees, and ibis patrolling the rough are as much a part of the round as anything on the card.
