Few counties in England offer a more honest, unpretentious game of golf than Devon, and Libbaton sits comfortably within that tradition. Located in the rural North Devon countryside, the course plays through the kind of rolling, pastoral landscape that defines this corner of the West Country — hedgerows, open farmland, and the quiet sense that you're well clear of anywhere in a hurry. It's the sort of place where the surroundings do a lot of the talking.
North Devon is not the flashiest destination on England's golfing map, but it has a genuine character — Royal North Devon at Westward Ho!, the oldest links in England, anchors the region's reputation, and courses like Libbaton represent the inland side of that tradition: parkland and meadowland golf that rewards local knowledge and straight thinking over raw power.
As a full 18-hole, par-72 layout, Libbaton offers a proper test rather than a quick outing. This is a members' course with a community feel, the kind of club where visitors are welcomed but the regulars clearly know every bounce and prevailing wind.
