Yeoju sits roughly 80 kilometers southeast of Seoul in the southern reaches of Gyeonggi-do, where the South Han River winds through a landscape of gentle ridgelines, agricultural plains, and the kind of unhurried countryside that feels a world away from the capital despite the easy highway access. The area is known for its ceramics heritage and strawberry farms as much as anything else, and the terrain around the river valley gives golf course designers natural contour to work with — elevation changes, wooded slopes, and water features that don't need to be manufactured.
남여주GC (Nam Yeoju Golf Club) is one of several courses that have taken root in this corridor of Gyeonggi-do, a region that has developed into one of Korea's denser golf belts precisely because of its proximity to Seoul's massive golfing population and its varied topography. Layouts here tend to reward course management over raw distance, with tree-lined fairways and ground conditions that shift notably between the dry Korean spring and the humid summer monsoon season.
For Seoul-area golfers, courses in the Yeoju belt offer a practical alternative to the saturated options closer to the city — generally more relaxed pace of play, genuine countryside surroundings, and the sense that you've actually traveled somewhere to play your round.
