Bolton Landing sits on the western shore of Lake George in the Adirondack foothills — one of upstate New York's most celebrated resort destinations, where the mountains meet a 32-mile glacial lake that has drawn visitors since the 19th century. The Sagamore Golf Club is part of that legacy, attached to The Sagamore, the grand resort hotel that has occupied its own island on Lake George since 1883. Golf has been woven into the Sagamore experience for well over a century, making this one of the more historically layered resort courses in the Northeast.
The course was redesigned by Donald Ross in 1928, and his fingerprints remain in the subtly contoured greens and strategic demands that reward thoughtful shotmaking over raw power. A par 70 layout naturally leans shorter and more tactical than a conventional championship test, and Ross-designed courses tend to make the green complexes — not the length — the real examination.
The Adirondack setting gives the round a distinctly scenic character: dense hardwood forest, rolling terrain, and the clean mountain air that defines this stretch of New York State. For resort guests, it completes the classic lakeside retreat experience.
