The Pustertal Golf Club sits in the Pusteria Valley — known in Italian as Val Pusteria — one of the great east-west Alpine corridors of South Tyrol, running between Brunico and the Austrian border. This is a bilingual, bicultural corner of northern Italy where German is as commonly spoken as Italian, the architecture leans Tyrolean, and the mountains press in from every direction. Brunico itself is a compact medieval market town, and the surrounding landscape is defined by steep forested slopes, high meadows, and the Rienza river threading through the valley floor.
A par 68 tells you something meaningful about what to expect here: this is a course shaped by terrain rather than tradition, where Alpine topography almost certainly dictates shorter holes and demands accuracy over raw distance. Mountain courses in this region tend to reward players who think carefully and strike cleanly rather than those who simply overpower a layout.
South Tyrol has quietly developed one of Italy's most interesting regional golf scenes, with a cluster of courses that offer genuine mountain character at elevations most Italian golfers never encounter. Playing here means accepting the Alps as both backdrop and adversary.
