Few courses in Sweden carry the prestige of Ullna Golf Club, which opened in 1981 to a design by the American architect Robert Trent Jones Sr. — one of the most prolific and influential shapers of 20th-century golf. Jones routed the course across rolling, forested terrain north of Stockholm, weaving play through mature woodlands and along the shores of Lake Ullnasjön, a setting that gives the club a distinctly Scandinavian character while bearing the hallmarks of Jones's bold, strategic thinking: generous fairways that tighten under pressure, well-defended greens, and water brought into play at key moments.
Ullna established itself quickly as one of the elite clubs in the Stockholm region and has hosted significant professional and amateur competition over the decades, cementing a reputation that extends well beyond its suburban address in Åkersberga, about 25 kilometres northeast of the city centre.
The club operates on a private-membership model, and the atmosphere reflects that — quietly serious about golf, immaculately maintained, and proud of a course that rewards genuine shot-making over raw power.
