Lac des Sables sits in the Laurentian highlands north of Montreal, where the Shield's rounded granite hills, dense boreal forest, and lake-dotted landscape define some of Quebec's most distinctive golf terrain. The region draws visitors year after year for its short but intense summer season, and the courses that have taken root here tend to reflect that geography directly — routing through tree corridors, along water edges, and over terrain that resists any attempt at flat, manufactured fairways.
Saint-Rémi is a full 18-hole, par-72 layout operating within that tradition. Without a corporate resort behind it or a famous architect's name attached, courses like this one typically earn their following the honest way: through locals who know every quirk of the land and visitors who discover something more interesting than they expected.
The Laurentians reward golfers who enjoy reading natural terrain rather than manicured predictability. A round here means contending with elevation, tree-framed sightlines, and the particular stillness of a region where the golf calendar is shorter than most — which tends to make the rounds that do happen feel that much more worthwhile.
