Mountain Ash Golf Club sits in the Cynon Valley, one of the former coal-mining valleys that cut deep into the South Wales uplands north of Cardiff. The club takes its name from the town below — itself named after the mountain ash tree once common across these hillsides — and like many Welsh valley clubs it occupies ground that climbs steeply away from the valley floor, offering views that stretch across a landscape still shaped by its industrial past and gradual return to green.
