Sancheong-gun sits deep in the southern reaches of Gyeongsangnam-do, a county defined by the Jirisan massif — one of South Korea's great mountain landscapes and the backbone of Jirisan National Park. Golf here means elevation, forested ridgelines, and the kind of terrain that doesn't allow for flat, pedestrian design. The air is noticeably cleaner than in Korea's urban corridors, and the surrounding valleys carry a quieter, more rural character than the resort clusters of Jeju or the greens belts ringing Seoul and Busan.
진산골프클럽 (Jinsan Golf Club) operates in that mountain-influenced context, where routing decisions are shaped by topography rather than imposed upon it. Rounds here reward players who manage elevation changes and think their way around rather than simply swinging for distance — the hills have a way of humbling any gameplan built on power alone.
Sancheong itself is a relatively small county town, known for herbal medicine markets and proximity to Jirisan's hiking trails. Visitors combining a round here with time in the national park get a fuller sense of what makes this corner of South Gyeongsang province genuinely worth the drive.
