Grand National Golf Club sits on the grounds of Grand Casino Hinckley, one of Minnesota's largest tribal gaming destinations, operated by the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe. The course functions as a full resort experience — a legitimate reason to extend a casino visit into a full golf getaway, or simply a destination on its own terms for golfers in the Pine City corridor.
Hinckley occupies a stretch of east-central Minnesota where the landscape opens into mixed forest and glacial terrain, with the St. Croix River watershed not far to the east. The region sits at the edge of the North Woods, giving courses here a distinctly wooded, transitional feel — fairways framed by pine and hardwood, seasons that run genuinely short, and conditions that reward players who can work a ball through tree-lined corridors.
Resort-affiliated courses in this part of the state tend to be well-maintained and accessible, designed to flatter the recreational player while offering enough variety to hold the interest of more serious golfers making the drive up from the Twin Cities metro, roughly 75 miles to the south.
