Cogoleto sits on the Ligurian Riviera between Genoa and Savona, where the Apennines drop sharply toward the Mediterranean and leave almost no flat ground before the sea. Golf in this corner of northwestern Italy means working with the terrain rather than against it, and Sant'Anna does exactly that — the course moves through hillside landscape that is unmistakably Ligurian, with the characteristic scrub, stone, and coastal light that define this stretch of the Italian Riviera.
A par 71 layout signals something about the routing: expect a mix of shorter, sharper holes where position and course management matter more than raw distance, and where the elevation changes and angles demand attention over brute force. The hills here don't forgive lazy thinking, and the views they offer in return are considerable.
Cogoleto itself is a small town with genuine local character, far enough from Genoa to feel like its own place. Golfers making the trip will find themselves in a part of Italy where the golf scene is unhurried and the setting does most of the talking.
