Allmags Golfklubb sits on Stillingsön, a small island on the Swedish west coast in Västra Götaland — a region where the land fractures into an intricate archipelago of skerries, inlets, and low granite outcroppings before meeting the North Sea. This stretch of Bohuslän coastline has a raw, wind-scoured character entirely unlike the manicured resort golf found further south in Sweden, and a round here is shaped as much by the weather rolling in off the Kattegat as by anything on the card.
The club carries the informal, community-rooted spirit typical of Swedish everyday golf — affordable, welcoming, and more interested in the pleasure of the game than in prestige. Courses on these outer islands tend to weave through heathland and coastal scrub, where natural hazards do the work that a designer might otherwise impose artificially, and keeping the ball below the wind is a skill that rewards repeat visits.
For visiting golfers, the journey to Stillingsön is itself part of the appeal. The island setting and the surrounding Bohuslän landscape — fishing villages, smooth grey rock, cold clear light — give a round here a sense of place that feels genuinely remote and earned.
