Edmonton's oil patch has always had a strong claim on the game — petroleum money helped build some of Alberta's finest private clubs — and the Edmonton Petroleum Golf and Country Club carries that heritage in its name even as it sits just west of the city in Spruce Grove. The club draws its membership from the energy industry and the broader Edmonton professional community, and that history gives it a particular character: well-resourced, seriously maintained, and proud of its traditions.
Spruce Grove sits on the edge of Alberta's aspen parkland, that transitional belt where the open prairie gives way to groves of trembling aspen and poplar. It's a landscape that rewards thoughtful golf course design — rolling terrain, natural tree corridors, and the kind of wide Alberta sky that makes every round feel unhurried. Summers here are warm and long-dayed, with the light lasting well past 9 p.m. at the height of the season.
