Loch Palm Golf Club occupies a natural valley in Kathu, the inland district that sits at the geographic heart of Phuket island — and it's a markedly different experience from the coastal resort layouts that dominate the island's golf scene. The course winds through a former rubber plantation, and that agricultural heritage still shapes its character: mature trees line the fairways closely, the terrain rolls in ways that feel earned rather than engineered, and a large lake anchors the layout and comes into play on multiple holes. The overall atmosphere is quieter and more local in feel than the splashier resort tracks closer to Patong or Laguna.
Designed with a parkland sensibility rather than the dramatic earth-moving of some of its neighbors, Loch Palm rewards accuracy and course management over raw power. The tree corridors keep errant drives honest, and the greens have enough movement to make approach angles matter.
Kathu itself sits in a valley ringed by jungle-covered hills, giving Loch Palm a sheltered, almost private character that plays cooler and calmer than the island's exposed coastal courses — a genuine alternative for golfers who want something that feels rooted in the landscape rather than imposed on it.
