Club de Golf El Bosque

Few golf courses in Spain occupy a setting quite like El Bosque's. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and opened in 1975, the course winds through a densely wooded estate in the hills southwest of Valencia, with mature pines and oaks defining virtually every hole. The Jones design makes full use of the undulating terrain, demanding precise ball-striking and strategic thinking rather than raw distance. Water features prominently across the layout — lakes and streams appear at critical moments — giving the course a visual drama that earned it a strong reputation as one of the Comunitat Valenciana's most distinguished private clubs.

El Bosque has hosted European Tour events, most notably the Spanish Open on multiple occasions during the 1980s and 1990s, cementing its status on the continental stage. The course's conditioning and the seclusion of its parkland setting give it a character more reminiscent of certain English heathland clubs than the sun-baked links imagery many associate with Spanish golf.

Chiva itself sits inland, away from the coastal resort golf that dominates the Valencia region, which means El Bosque draws a serious, local membership rather than a tourist trade.
