Jackson's Cascades Golf Course takes its name from the city's most recognizable landmark — the Sparks Foundation County Park cascading fountain, a beloved local institution that has drawn visitors to this corner of south-central Michigan for generations. The course shares that same unpretentious, community-first spirit, offering Jackson-area golfers a full 18-hole layout without the barriers of a private membership.
South-central Michigan golf tends to reward patience over power, playing through the kind of gently rolling glacial terrain that defines this part of the Lower Peninsula. Fairways are typically framed by mature midwestern hardwoods — oak, maple, and elm — that turn the course into something genuinely scenic come October, when fall color peaks across the region.
As a municipally owned facility, Cascades serves a wide cross-section of players, from junior golfers just finding their footing to retirees who've played these fairways for decades. That mix gives a public course its real character, something no ranking or rating can quite capture.
