Boquete sits in the Chiriquí Highlands of western Panama, a cool mountain town that surprises visitors expecting tropical heat. At roughly 1,200 meters above sea level, the valley draws a steady mist that softens the surrounding peaks of the Barú volcano region, and the climate is genuinely mild year-round — conditions that make walking a round far more comfortable than most of Central America would suggest.
Lucero Golf Course occupies this exceptional setting, and in a country where golf infrastructure remains relatively sparse, an 18-hole layout in the highlands carries real significance for the local and expat community that has grown up around Boquete in recent decades. The region attracts travelers drawn to coffee farms, cloud forest trails, and outdoor pursuits, and Lucero fits naturally into that mix as a destination with scenery that goes well beyond what most courses can claim.
Without detailed records of the design history publicly available, what's clear is that playing golf here means engaging with a landscape shaped by volcanic geology, highland agriculture, and one of the more distinctive pockets of Panama worth knowing.
