Few regions of Finland reward a round of golf quite like North Savo, where the Lakeland landscape does most of the heavy lifting. Tervo is a small municipality defined almost entirely by water — the Tervonsalmi strait connecting a chain of lakes that stretch toward the horizon in every direction. Playing golf here means playing with that scenery constantly in frame, the fairways threading through birch and pine with lake views opening and closing between holes in a way no scorecard metric can capture.
Eerikkala Golf occupies the kind of rural Finnish setting where the course and the natural environment feel genuinely inseparable. The terrain is characteristically Lakeland: gentle rolls, forested corridors, and the ever-present shimmer of water that makes distances deceptive and the atmosphere quietly dramatic. The summer light in this latitude — long, low evenings stretching well past 10 p.m. — gives late rounds a golden quality that is simply unlike anywhere else in the golfing world.
For visitors, Tervo is unhurried and unspoiled, the sort of place where a round comes with clean air, minimal crowds, and the distinct sense of having found Finnish golf at something close to its most honest.
