Cedaredge sits on Colorado's Grand Mesa — the world's largest flat-top mountain — at an elevation where the air is thin, the sky feels close, and tee shots travel noticeably farther than they would at sea level. The town itself is a small agricultural community on the mesa's southern edge, surrounded by apple orchards, cattle ranches, and sweeping views across the Uncompahgre Valley toward the San Juan Mountains. Golf in this corner of western Colorado is unhurried, and the landscape does most of the talking.
The club occupies terrain that reflects the mesa's character: open range giving way to juniper and scrub oak, with the kind of wide-angle scenery that makes it genuinely difficult to keep your eyes on the ball. At elevation, the course plays shorter than its yardage suggests, which tends to flatter mid-handicappers while rewarding anyone who can manage the ever-present western Colorado wind.
For visitors touring the Western Slope, Cedaredge offers something the resort courses in Telluride or Vail can't quite match — an authentic small-town layout where locals actually play, prices stay reasonable, and the round feels like a natural extension of the surrounding ranch country rather than a manicured escape from it.
