Southwest Florida's golf terrain is characteristically flat, which puts the design burden squarely on water features, bunkering, and strategic green complexes rather than topography. Courses in this part of the state live and die by how well they use their lakes and preserves, and the region's subtropical vegetation — cabbage palms, sabal palms, and native grasses — does much of the visual heavy lifting.
