Ciudad Juárez sits on the northern edge of Chihuahua state, pressed against the Rio Grande and the El Paso city limits — a border setting that gives Senecu a genuinely binational character. The Chihuahuan Desert surrounds the city in every direction, and that high-desert terrain shapes the playing environment in ways no scorecard can capture: thin air, intense sun, low humidity, and the kind of firm, fast turf conditions that reward a ground game as much as aerial approaches. Winters are mild by Mexican standards but can bite; summers run hot and bright.
Senecu takes its name from the Senecu del Sur pueblo, one of the historic indigenous communities of the Juárez valley — a name that carries considerably more local weight than a typical course branding. As a full 18-hole layout in a city better known for manufacturing and cross-border commerce than for golf tourism, it occupies an interesting niche: a real golf club serving a real community rather than a resort audience.
For visiting players, the cross-border geography is half the experience. El Paso's courses are minutes away, and many golfers moving between the two cities treat the region as a single golf destination split by the river.
