The Europäischer Golfclub Elmpter Wald sits within one of the most distinctive natural settings in the German Lower Rhine region — the Elmpter Wald, a sprawling lowland forest and heathland reserve that straddles the Dutch-German border. This corner of North Rhine-Westphalia, part of the broader Schwalm-Nette landscape, is characterised by sandy soils, pine and birch woodland, and open heathland more reminiscent of the Dutch Veluwe or even a modest links-adjacent terrain than the parkland courses typical of inland Germany.
