Perched in the Allegheny Mountains of central Pennsylvania, Summit Country Club sits in Cresson — a small borough in Cambria County that carries a quietly distinguished history. In the late 19th century, Cresson was a fashionable mountain retreat for Pittsburgh industrialists escaping the summer heat, and that legacy of highland leisure gives the club a sense of unhurried tradition that persists today.
The Alleghenies shape everything about how this course plays. Elevation changes, firm turf, and mountain air that stretches drives are constants here, and the views across the ridgelines are the kind that make you stop mid-round and actually look. The surrounding forest — mixed hardwoods turning spectacular in autumn — gives the layout a defined, intimate feel rather than the wide-open exposure of flatter terrain.
As a country club serving a small mountain community, Summit carries the character of a genuine members' course: a place where regulars know every slope and break, where the game moves at a comfortable pace, and where the setting does a great deal of the work.
