Raptor Bay Golf Club takes its name from the osprey and other birds of prey that inhabit the mangrove-lined waterways of southwest Florida — a setting that shapes the course as much as any architectural decision. Bonita Springs sits between Naples and Fort Myers in Collier and Lee Counties, a stretch of the Gulf Coast where the flat terrain, saltwater estuaries, and subtropical vegetation define both the landscape and the way golf courses are built and played. Water is everywhere here, and the wildlife is genuine, not decorative.
The course is part of a resort community, which means conditioning tends to be a priority and the overall experience leans toward the polished and welcoming side of Florida resort golf. That said, the natural environment around Bonita Springs gives courses in this corridor real character — the mangroves, the brackish ponds, the afternoon storms rolling in off the Gulf, the egrets standing motionless in the rough.
Southwest Florida's golf season peaks from November through April, when the snowbird population swells and tee sheets fill quickly. Summers are hot, humid, and quieter, but for those who don't mind the heat, the pace slows considerably and the rates tend to follow.
