Portland's golf scene runs deep, and Broadmoor has been part of that fabric since 1931, making it one of the older public layouts in the city. The course occupies a flat stretch of the Columbia River floodplain in Northeast Portland, a part of the city that retains a working, unpretentious character. Mature trees define the corridors, and the generally calm, low-lying terrain means the challenge comes from placement and precision rather than dramatic elevation change.
As a public municipal course, Broadmoor has long served as a place where everyday golfers in Portland sharpen their games season after season. The Pacific Northwest climate keeps the turf green well into fall and brings the course back quickly each spring, though the wet winters mean the ground can play soft for much of the year. It's the kind of place regulars know hole by hole, where local rivalries and weekend routines matter as much as the layout itself.
For visitors, Broadmoor offers an honest, accessible round without pretense — a course that has seen generations of Portland golfers come through and keeps drawing them back.
