Lake Alfred sits in the heart of Polk County, roughly midway between Orlando and Tampa, where Florida's ridge country gives way to a landscape defined by citrus groves, rolling terrain, and the chain of lakes that earned this stretch of the state its reputation as a quiet inland retreat. It's a different Florida from the coasts — less flashy, more lived-in, and the golf here tends to reflect that same unpretentious character.
Cypress Greens combines golf and tennis in the classic tradition of Florida's active-lifestyle communities, the kind of club built around everyday play rather than tournament prestige. A par 70 layout suggests a course that rewards shotmaking and course management over raw distance — shorter par 4s or a reduced par-5 count typically put a premium on precision, and Florida's subtropical conditions mean the ball behaves differently through summer humidity versus the crisp winter months that draw seasonal residents south.
