Provost & District Golf Club occupies a quiet corner of east-central Alberta, a part of the province where the prairies stretch wide and the horizon seems to go on indefinitely. Provost itself is a small agricultural town close to the Saskatchewan border, and like many rural Alberta communities, it has long supported a local golf club as one of the area's genuine social anchors — the kind of place where a Saturday morning round doubles as a community gathering.
The course reflects the honest, unpretentious character of the region. Prairie layouts like this one typically work with the natural contours of the land, letting the open sky and prevailing winds do much of the heavy lifting when it comes to difficulty. Modest tree lines, tight fairways shaped by decades of care, and greens maintained by a volunteer-driven club ethos give the course a personality that municipal and resort tracks rarely match.
For visitors passing through on the drive between Edmonton and the Saskatchewan interior, Provost offers a genuine slice of grassroots Canadian golf — affordable, welcoming, and rooted in the community it serves.
