Inverrary Country Club

Few Florida courses carry a television pedigree quite like Inverrary's. The club rose to national prominence as the longtime home of the Jackie Gleason Inverrary Classic, a PGA Tour event that drew enormous crowds and marquee fields through the 1970s and into the 1980s — the kind of February stop that had a genuine party atmosphere, fitting for a host named after "The Great One." The East Course, the tournament layout, became one of the most watched venues in Florida golf during that era.

The club sits in Lauderhill, in the heart of Broward County, which places it squarely in South Florida's dense, competitive golf corridor between Miami and Palm Beach. The terrain here is flat and open in the classic South Florida fashion, with water hazards doing the heavy lifting that elevation changes handle elsewhere — accuracy off the tee matters far more than power management.

Today Inverrary operates as a private members' club, and while the Tour spotlight has long since moved on, the grounds retain the scale and conditioning ambitions of a course built to perform on national television.
