Fjällbacka Golfklubb sits in one of the most dramatically beautiful corners of the Swedish west coast, a stretch of coastline where smooth granite skerries tumble into the Skagerrak and the light shifts with a quality that has attracted artists and writers for generations. The town of Fjällbacka itself is tiny and celebrated — Ingrid Bergman spent summers here throughout her life, and the main square bears her name. It is also the fictional home of Erica Falck in Camilla Läckberg's crime novels, which have made the village something of a literary pilgrimage site.
The course occupies the kind of rugged Bohuslän landscape that shapes golf in ways no architect fully controls — exposed rock, heather, coastal wind, and a terrain that asks for imagination off the tee and patience with the unexpected bounce. Golf in this part of Västra Götaland tends toward the honest and unpretentious, built for members who play year-round against the weather rather than the course rating.
For visiting golfers, the draw is as much the setting as the scorecard. A round here comes with sea views, salt air, and the unhurried pace of a small Swedish club where the 19th hole conversation matters as much as what happened on the 18th.
