Jack Nicklaus didn't just design The Bear's Club — he built it as his own home course, the place where he wanted to play. Opened in 2000 and developed on land adjacent to his longtime Jupiter residence, the private club was conceived as a personal statement: a Golden Bear-stamped layout executed without compromise, for a membership small enough that tee times are never a scramble. The design reflects Nicklaus's architectural philosophy at its most considered — generous fairways that reward strategic positioning over raw power, approach angles that punish the wrong side of the fairway, and greens with enough contour to make two-putts feel earned.
Jupiter sits at the northern edge of Palm Beach County, where the Loxahatchee River meets the Atlantic coast. The landscape is flat by nature, so the course works with mounding, water features, and native vegetation to create definition and visual drama — a common Nicklaus signature in Florida work.
The Bear's Club draws a celebrity and touring-pro membership roster that reflects Jupiter's status as one of golf's most concentrated zip codes, home over the years to Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, and several other major champions who train and live in the area.
