Founded in 1943, Rush Golf Club sits on the northern tip of the Fingal coastline, roughly 20 kilometres north of Dublin city centre. The club occupies a stretch of genuine links terrain along the Irish Sea, where the turf is firm and fast, the wind is rarely absent, and the landscape carries that spare, elemental quality that defines links golf at its most honest. Playing here feels nothing like the inland parkland courses that dominate the greater Dublin area — this is the real thing, ground game and all.
The course is a compact, par-70 layout that rewards local knowledge and punishes players who try to overpower it. Tight lies, subtle undulations, and the ever-present coastal breeze mean that course management matters far more than raw distance. Members here have been navigating those same winds for over eight decades, and their handicaps tend to show it.
Rush is a genuine community club in a small coastal town, unpretentious and proudly local. For visitors exploring the Fingal golf trail, it offers an authentic taste of Irish links golf without the crowds or cost of the region's better-known destinations.
