Few public golf facilities in the Denver metro area have served as many golfers for as long as South Suburban. Operated by the South Suburban Parks and Recreation District, the course has been a community anchor in Centennial — one of Colorado's most populous cities — for decades, offering accessible, affordable golf to the sprawling suburban population that stretches south of the city along the Front Range.
Centennial sits at roughly 5,900 feet above sea level, which means every shot travels noticeably farther than it would at sea level — a pleasant surprise for visiting golfers and a familiar advantage for locals. The course plays across the relatively flat high-plains terrain typical of this part of Arapahoe County, with views of the Rocky Mountain foothills visible to the west on clear days. The semi-arid climate allows for a long playing season by Colorado standards.
As a full 18-hole, par-72 layout run by a parks district, South Suburban is squarely in the tradition of the workhorse municipal — the kind of course where juniors learn the game, leagues fill weekday afternoons, and nobody needs a reason beyond wanting to play golf.
