Few golf destinations in the American West carry the visual drama that comes with teeing it up beneath the Teton Range. Teton Pines sits just outside Jackson in the valley locals call Jackson Hole, where the jagged, snow-capped peaks of Grand Teton National Park form a backdrop that can make it genuinely difficult to keep your eyes on the ball. Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay designed the course, and it opened in 1987 as part of a private residential community — a layout that rewards strategic play over brute force, winding through wetlands, pines, and the natural contours of the valley floor.
The course has hosted USGA events and carries a reputation as one of Wyoming's most accomplished tests of golf, regularly appearing on best-in-state rankings. Its conditioning tends to reflect the care expected of a private club, and the setting gives it a character that no inland parkland course can replicate.
Jackson itself is a serious outdoor town — skiing, fly-fishing, wildlife — and golf here feels like a natural extension of that relationship with the landscape rather than an interruption of it. The short mountain season concentrates a devoted membership and a steady stream of destination golfers who understand that a round here is, by any measure, an event.
