Zaoqiao Township sits in the rolling inland hills of Miaoli County, one of Taiwan's quieter agricultural regions where tea plantations and river valleys define the landscape. The area is far removed from the coastal resort corridors, giving courses here a more grounded, local character — this is where Taiwanese golfers come to play, not where tour operators send package tourists.
皇家高爾夫球場 (Royal Golf Club) occupies terrain typical of central Miaoli: undulating hillside ground with elevation changes that make distances feel deceptive and club selection a genuine puzzle. The surrounding countryside stays green through much of the year, fed by the region's reliable rainfall, and the course corridors tend to follow the natural contours of the land rather than imposing artificial geometry on it.
As a members-oriented private facility in a county that has cultivated a serious local golf culture, Royal offers the kind of unhurried round that busy northern Taiwan courses rarely allow. Miaoli's golf scene rewards those willing to venture off the well-worn tracks between Taipei and Taichung.
