Few courses in Mississippi carry the weight of Annandale Golf Club. Designed by Jack Nicklaus and opened in 1994, the Madison layout built its reputation quickly, earning a place among the state's elite private clubs and drawing national attention when it hosted the PGA Tour's Southern Farm Bureau Classic multiple times in the early 2000s. Watching Tour professionals navigate the course gave local members a rare window into how a Nicklaus design rewards patience and precision over raw power.
The course winds through the rolling terrain north of Jackson, where mature hardwoods and strategic water features define the character of most holes. Nicklaus-designed layouts tend to demand thoughtful shot-shaping and respect for angles — Annandale is no exception, with its wide landing areas that quietly punish those who miss the correct side of the fairway.
Madison itself has grown considerably since the course opened, but Annandale remains a fixture of the region's serious golf culture — a members' club that has genuinely tested the best and rewards those who know it well.
