Wiggensbach is a small village in the Oberallgäu district of Bavaria, sitting in the rolling hill country between Kempten and the Allgäu Alps. The landscape here is classic southern German farming terrain — broad meadows, woodlands, and long views toward the peaks of the Allgäu range — and Golfclub Wiggensbach-Waldegg makes full use of it. The course occupies the Waldegg area just outside the village, where the undulating topography gives virtually every hole a distinct character and the alpine backdrop is rarely out of sight.
This is a member-run club of the sort that forms the backbone of German recreational golf — a Verein in the true sense, built and sustained by its community rather than a resort or real estate development. That ethos tends to produce courses that are thoughtfully maintained, unhurried, and genuinely welcoming to visiting golfers who arrive in the right spirit.
The Allgäu region enjoys a lively local golf scene, with numerous clubs spread across the foothills between Kempten, Kaufbeuren, and Sonthofen. Playing here means engaging with Bavarian golf culture at its most grounded — fresh mountain air, scenic countryside, and the kind of round where the setting does at least as much work as the layout.
