Grytsberg Golf Club sits on a property in Stjärnhov, a small rural community in Södermanland — the province that stretches south of Stockholm between Lake Mälaren and the Baltic coast. This is classic Swedish inland country: dense pine and birch forest, granite outcroppings, and the kind of quiet lakes that define the region's character. Södermanland has a modest but genuine golf culture, with clubs scattered across its wooded landscape that tend to reward accuracy and course management over raw power.
The course plays through terrain that is distinctly Scandinavian in feel — tight corridors of forest, uneven ground shaped by glacial geology, and natural hazards that demand respect rather than aggression. Courses built into this kind of Swedish woodland rarely offer much margin for error off the tee, and the setting itself becomes part of the challenge.
As a smaller club in a rural part of the province, Grytsberg carries the atmosphere of a genuine members' course — unhurried, rooted in its community, and offering a round that feels a long way from the bustle of the capital, even though Stockholm is only an hour or so north.
