Opened in 2000, it was built on gently rolling farmland south of Reading to a design by Peter Alliss and Clive Clark — a layout conceived from the outset as a serious members' club rather than a developer's afterthought. The result is a course that feels more established than its age suggests, with mature tree lines, thoughtfully bunkered fairways, and a routing that uses the natural contours of the Berkshire-Oxfordshire border country without forcing the land into something it isn't.

The setting matters here. Reading sits at the confluence of the Thames and Kennet rivers, and the surrounding countryside opens into rolling chalk downland and farmland that gives Caversham Heath genuine breathing room — a world away from the congestion of the M4 corridor just a few miles north.

As a private members' club, it offers the kind of unhurried, well-maintained experience that its Home Counties location demands. The membership takes the course seriously, and so does the greenkeeping.
