Hornsea Golf Club sits on the edge of a small coastal town on the Holderness peninsula, that long, flat finger of East Yorkshire stretching south from Bridlington toward the Humber. The town itself is best known for its mere — the largest freshwater lake in Yorkshire — and for being the home of Hornsea Pottery, though golfers have been making the trip out here for well over a century. The course occupies classic English parkland-meets-links fringe territory, the kind of ground where the North Sea is close enough to remind you of its presence without the course being a true links.
