Rathdrum sits in the Rathdrum Prairie, a broad glacially-carved flatland in northern Idaho's panhandle, just east of the Washington border and a short drive from Coeur d'Alene. The surrounding landscape is defined by ponderosa pine, rolling hills at its fringes, and the kind of wide-open sky that feels distinctly Pacific Northwest interior — dry summers, vivid autumn color, and a golf season that runs roughly May through October before the high-country winters close things down.
Twin Lakes Village Golf Club takes its name from the pair of small lakes that define the community around it, and the course itself reflects the residential village character of its setting — a layout designed to complement a neighborhood rather than make a dramatic architectural statement. That can mean a more relaxed, walkable atmosphere than you'd find at a destination resort, with regulars who know every bounce and break.
For visiting golfers, this is a course where the northern Idaho surroundings do much of the heavy lifting — clean air, pine-scented fairways, and a genuine sense of distance from anywhere that feels rushed.
