Carved into the rolling Devon countryside south of Exeter, Teign Valley occupies one of the more scenic pockets of golf in the southwest of England. The course sits within the valley of the River Teign, where the land folds and rises in ways that reward local knowledge — and punish those who assume a modest par 70 signals an easy afternoon.
Devon golf tends to have a distinct texture: the terrain is rarely flat, the weather off the moors can arrive without much warning, and the natural contours do much of the course's defensive work. Teign Valley leans into all of that, with holes that follow the valley floor before climbing into more exposed ground, offering the kind of views over the Dartmoor fringe that make a bogey feel slightly more forgivable.
As a members' club serving the Exeter area, it draws a loyal community of golfers who know its quirks intimately. For visitors, it offers something the city's urban fringes rarely can — genuine countryside golf, where the setting does as much talking as the layout.
