Mirage Country Club

Port Douglas sits at one of Australia's most dramatic intersections — where the Daintree Rainforest meets the Coral Sea, roughly an hour's drive north of Cairns along the Captain Cook Highway. Mirage Country Club is the private members' club attached to the Sheraton Mirage resort precinct, one of the landmark developments that put Port Douglas on the international tourism map during the late 1980s and early 1990s boom.

The course was designed by Peter Thomson — the five-time Open Championship winner who became one of Australia's most prolific and respected course architects — and it plays through a tropical landscape unlike almost anything else on the continent. Low-lying fairways, water features, and lush vegetation shaped by a genuine wet-dry climate give the course a distinct feel: broad and resort-styled in places, but with real strategic demands.
